 Predictions for Coming Year

WowBasketballOh well, since I haven't written anything yet, i thought i'd start an article hopefully attracting more members to join.

Anywayz, PREDICTIONS FOR THE COMING SEASON.

Atlanta Hawks:
Still don't understand the trade, Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson for Brandon, Holcomb and a Draft pick?
I thought they had a good team last year but for some reason nothing seemed to click. However with Terry at point, hopefully a healthy Ratliff at center and solid Shareef at PF, maybe they can finish outside the playoffs again. Although if Brandon is healthy again that a pretty sweet back court.

Boston Celts: Same team really, isolation game between Pierce and Walker but with Jumaine Jones potential third scorer. Into the playoffs again but likely same results as last year.

Charlotte BobCats??: Someone will have to explain to me why they let the team go to New Orleans (i thought because of money problems) and then they start a new team all a sudden? Not sure if the fans want to stick around to watch a team develop for a few years before seeing some results

Chicago Bulls: God bless Jay Williams, hopefully he'll be back to run the floor. I expect big things from the two hyped highschoolers and with Pippen back maybe he can open up the floor and control the tempo a little better. Still finish out of the playoffs though, although Pippen good he's not a floor leader.

Cleveland Cavs: Personally I don't like this team at all. They traded away Andre Miller basically just to get the chance to draft Lebron James. Not a fan of Lebron either, personally i hope the Cavs get screwed over but James will probably become a star and leave Cleveland. No Playoffs.

Dallas Mavs: Although they games are exciting to watch, buying your roster puts a damper on their credibility. Great team will always be a contender but deep down i hope they will lose, unless they play the Lakers then i hope they win.

Denver Nuggets: Nice upgrade for this team, sign a solid PG in Miller, strong pick in Anthony and with a healthy Camby and Hilaro the teams looking pretty good. Still no playoffs though but tack on some more wins.

Detroit Pistons: Never understood why Billups was not resigned by the Timberwolves, when Brandon was down he ALWAYS stepped up, oh well, the Pistons with a steal on that one. Can't wait to see Wallace and Milicic play together. Always like teams that are able to develop core players from journeyman. Elden Campbell steps in as well, i think it'd be another close battle for the top in the East with NewJersey.

Golden State: Antawn Jamison kicks ass, solid Elton Brand like player. I always felt they had a awesome front court and a good team on paper but they never seem to deliever and i don't expect anything different this year.

Houston Rockets: Yao Ming's THE MAN. With a coaching change, Van gundy will likely run plays through Yao more often like he did with the Knicks and Ewing. However with a Scoring PG in Francis and a shoot first, pass second Cutino Mobley, I doubt there'd be that much more success unless they trade for a true PG and rid themselves of Mobley. Griffin's a good player but like Rice if they don't get the ball they're not going to be effective. Playoffs, likely 8th.

Indiana Pacers: By Far my most hated Team. All because of Reggie Miller. However they were able to convince O'neal to stay, i was almost certain he'd go to San Antonio. However losing Brad Miller and gaining only Ferry and Pollard seems to be a downgrade but for some reasons Indiana likes the shooters and with Ferry's accuracy and Pollards hustle they'll improve that aspect at least.
Predictions: hard to say, on paper i think they're rather average but somehow they managed to be a force last year, so playoffs 6 or 7th.

LA Clippers: Some of the most talented young players in the league, but all have egos and all want the big money. They're lucky that Brand is a loyal player and were able to resign him. If they sign Odom back there's an outside chance they'd make the playoffs but Brand being a solid 20/10 guy is not a leader and Odom has yet to prove he has the ability to lead them. Predictions: still no playoffs.

LA Lakers: No Comment. RE: NHL Colorado

Memphis Griz: Too many scorers and a lack of a consistent PG in Jason Williams, if they kept Bibby they could be smelling playoffs pretty soon. No real movements but i definitely liked the trade for Miller last year.

Miama Heat: Same time basically, since they didn't have Mourning last year anyway. Too bad the Knicks and Heat Rivalry used to be the best matchup in the playoffs. No playoffs, made a valiant effort in trying to bring Payton but no dice for a losing team they hasn't had a outstanding prospect, although there is upside to Dwyane Wade.

Milwaukee Bucks: No Payton, no chance, time to rebuild.

Minnesota TimberWolves: Olowokandi and Sprewell !!!!!! and all they gave up was Marc Jackson and Brandon!!! Oops sorry Olowokandi is from FA. But even with this upgrade they may still be looking at 3rd behind LA lakers and Dallas. KG's the man and i hope to see him get farther in the playoffs with Hudson getting more experience and Cassel adding ball handling skills as well as scoring ability. GO WOLVES!!!!

New Jersey Nets: adding Mourning along with Mutombo increases their front court size but it contradicts the Nets run and gun style. Unless Mourning can regain his former glory and pose a scoring threat i expect the Nets to encounter the same problem of going small and suffer in the middle or going big and slow the pace. If they wanna win the Championship they have to integrate the big men in their lineup all year round and not just when they face Western conference teams.

New Orleans Hornets: Losing Campbell hurts their depth but essentially the same team, not expecting better result nor improvment in the players.

NewYork Knicks: Still guard heavy, if McDyess is healthy they'd be a joy to watch. With Van Horn they're slightly bigger in the front court, but has yet to prove why he was a second overall pick. Possible 8th if Van Horn can prove he belongs.

Orlando MAgic: Lue for Armstrong, still a speedy PG but obviously the Magic want to slow the pace down with the upgrade in the front with JUwan Howard and Gooden still developing. With McGrady the team will still be a force in the East. 3rd to 5th

Philly 76ers: Losing a center in Todd MacCulloch, Marc Jackson may have a chance to show his ability he briefly showed in Golden State. With the "Big Dog" Glenn Robinson, Iverson has finally got a solid second scorer. Will make the playoffs once again but eliminated first maybe second round.

Phoenix Suns: They're not sneaking into the playoffs this year. Good team, fun to watch, Penny the MAn or at least he was but #2 in the East but too weak for the West.

Portland Blazers: Waste of Stoudamire talent, great job by Maurice Cheeks, a sleeper team but you never know when they'll wake up or just commit a crime.

Sacramento Kings: Addition of Brad Miller keeps them a contender even after Divac retires. Great team but unless Webber attacks the basketball rather then taking his 17 footer, the Kings aren't gonna make it. With the rest of the West upgrading significantly they'd likely missed their oppurtunity to win a championship.

San Antonio Spurs: How the Spurs managed to win is beyond me. All the role players stepped up, Duncan dominating as usual and Parker playing like an all-star. Steve Smith is on the bench for god sakes. For whatever reason i wouldn't be surprized if they won again. Predictions : 4th or 5th but still getting far in the playoffs.

Seattle Sonics: Same team, Ray Allen needs other scoring threats for him to be effective. no playoffs

Toronto Raptors: High hopes for the newly acquired FA and draft picks. Although Bosh looks promising unless Carter attacks the net the Raptors will again not make the playoffs!!! Even in the EAST!!!! No money for FA and can't get rid of the big contracts of Davis and the 7 million/year??? for Jerome Williams????? what the hell is that!!! Carter is the franchise, so stop *****ing and show everyone that you actually want to win. GodDamn

Utah Jazz: end of an Era, time to Rebuild

Washington Wiz: No playoffs, but i'm quite interested in seeing how good the Kwame Brown can be.

Final Predictions:
Ego clash in LA
Lebron's sweaty towel goes for $400 on EBay
Terrell Brandon is finally healthy but loss all his skill
Carter gets injured again. Raptors fan base declines
Miami trades draft picks for players past their prime. Riley quits
Yao Ming showing more dominace in the center
Dallas again picking up overpriced players but still can't win a championship
Divac gets injured, Kings lose in the playoffs
Timberwolves win the Championship!!!!!

For the most part I agree with these predictions. There are only a few that I disagree with. First off you give Yao a little more credit then he deserves, but doesn't everyone. The whole year its Yao this and Yao that. Every rockets game I watched Yao was just a tall lanky poll that you could hang a backboard off of and he would be the basket. He misses easy shots very often, doesn't throw it down like a guy his size should, and he has no overpowering inside ability. He blocked Shaq twice in that Lakers game but Shaq still had 20+ points. Shaq took him to school!! If Yao spends ALL of his free time in the weight room in this off season and during the course of next season then maybe he'll play up to the ability everyone thinks he is at! I have no clue how you could even think that the Knicks even have a possibility of making the playoffs. They got RID OF SPREE! Nothing good comes out of getting rid of a player with his scoring ability unless you get one in return. Van Horn is mos def not even close to a good scorer. I'm beginning to think that the knicks are secretly runned by chimps. Buddy I don't have a clue of what your sayin about Webber. Do you even know ne thing about the kings. Almost 70% of Webber's baskets are from inside the paint!!! and he takes those 17 footers because of his bad ankle!!! If it wasn't for the ankle he would be as dominant as Duncan!!!!I mean you see what its like going through your career just throwin it down and all of a sudden your in your prime and you can't throw it down like you used to. And Ray Allen does have other scoring threats haven't you ever heard of Rashard Lewis?!?! Oh yeah and Miami doesn't have an outstanding prospect? What about Caron Butler? He had 15.4 PPG, was 9th in steals in the entire league and led the heat after EJ's injury. If a rookie with 15.4 PPG and leading a team in the absence of there only star isn't impressive and Yao is, then I don't know what is goin on here. Other than those few things this is a very accurate prediction.

I like the predictions and I do agree with another NBA championship going to the west. There are only a couple of things I disagree with, though. Even if Divac gets injured, Brad Miller will hopefully be healthy and would be a nice backup. The T-Wolves will NOT will the championship because the Spurs and the Lakers (with Kobe) will be in the hunt again. I do think that KG will get out of the first round will the support that he FINALLY got. How long has it taken to get a lagit starting 5??? A LONG WHILE. The Kandi-man, Spree, Sammy Cassell and obviously KG will all be happy in Minneapolis. If the Lakers dont have Kobe, the Lakers will still be good, but wont make it out of the second round. The Pistons' dilema is wether to start Elden Campbell or Cliff Robinson. I agree with you on this though, I cant wait to see Big Ben and Darko play side by side. Lebron will have his own EBAY page by the time the All star game comes around. lebron.ebay.com is my guess.
(WARNING, LEBRON EBAY SITE IS NOT REAL!)
Loved the article... 5 Stars
